Summary
Finish Details: There are two finish touchups along the sides of the neck, where a wooden shim has been installed under the fingerboard. The remainder of the finish is original.

Body Details: Hollow body with laminated maple back and sides and spruce top. The inside of the body is stamped “L235 8700,” corresponding to the lot and model number, and “P4” inside the bass f-hole.

Neck Details: Maple neck with bound ebony fretboard, split pearloid inlays, and non-adjustable neck reinforcement. The fingerboard has been removed and a wood shim has been added underneath; this wood has been touched up with black paint. The neck has been refretted and the nut replaced.
Electronics: Original Kay “tissue box” pickups and original electronics, with 3-way toggle switch and master volume/tone controls. The pot codes are obscured, but are original to the instrument.

Cosmetic Condition: The guitar has aged nicely, with checking and numerous small marks of age present. The finish is glossy with scratches and small dings. The headstock veneer has some minor blemishes, but is in otherwise good shape.
Tech Notes: The guitar plays well with low action and optimal neck relief, and is currently set up with 10 gauge strings with a wound third. The frets are wide and medium height with minor wear. This model dates to the 1950s.
